Observed — No road construction in front of Avantis near Sterling Avenue. Also, very few people inside Avanti’s eating lunch. Food and service was above par.

OBSERVED: Lou’s Drive-In on North Knoxville with a sign saying they closed for the season on Aug. 28. Since when is Aug. 28 a good time to close down for the summer?

Observed: Rather large, well-endowed woman at a popular buffet eatery. Her top did not completely cover her bar, which looked like it had not been washed in months.

Observed: That big green building at the corner of Bourland and West Main Street where Haddad’s.Restaurant used to be, now sitting empty, with signs in every window pleading with someone, anyone. to rent the place. Two doors down, the now smaller Haddad’s Restaurant is filled with happy, contented customers.
